See what kind of monkey business Don and Bev get into in this weeks episode of Vidlers TV.
Like many things, the design of socks has changed over the years, with one of the most profound changes in 1932, as the Nelson Knitting Company created a work sock with no seam. It was a socking breakthrough but competitors would try to derail their profits, so, to distinguish themselves as the original, the Nelson Knitting Company began making the socks with a red heel. This red heel would become the sock monkey mouth as crafters during the depression would use the socks to create stuffed animals. Since then, the branding of sock monkeys has expanded to sock monkey hand warmers, games, jack in the boxes as well as the red-heel socks to knit your own sock monkey.
