Fun 2022 Summer Events Near East Aurora, NY
September 27, 2023

Don Vidler
Maybe you’ve noticed that here at Vidler’s we tend to like fun stuff.
If so, then you’ll understand why we love the music lineup scheduled for the Borderland Music + Arts Festival (“A Festival Beyond Boundaries”), on September 17 and 18, in Knox Farm State Park, New York.
Among the musical acts scheduled to play there:
Portugal. The Man;
Dumpstaphunk;
Donna the Buffalo;
NYS Dead Coalition;
The Stove Pipes; and
Grub
And that’s just the first day of the festival. Scheduled to play the second day include The Flaming Lips, the Infamous Stringdusters, and Dogs in a Pile.
Imagine: Two days. Three stages. 30 bands. And the bands’ music is even better than their names. So, we’re fishing out our wallets to buy our tickets. Right. Now.
Borderland is just one reason why summer in Western New York is so special. The season is chockful of great events, including:
The East Aurora Farmer’s Market. Open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and Wednesday May 7-November 23, this is a culinary treasure. Eat local and eat up!
Whiskey for Garcia. Held outdoors on the Roycroft Campus at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 28, this fireside gathering features whiskey samples, a small food-pairing kit, and the expert company of whiskey sommelier and Roycroft Campus board member Erik Eustice.
Backyard Bash. This Thursday-evening summer concert series, held in the parking lot behind Vidler’s, runs through September 1. And there’s a different band each week.
Rotary Annual Aurora Party. This is at 6 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the Healthy Zone Ice Rink. A yearly tradition, it’s an all-class reunion party for East Aurora High School alumni. The last two years it’s been open to the public.
The East Aurora Sidewalk Sale. This runs all day on Saturday, July 30. Visit the wide variety of retail shops on Main Street as well as outside vendors and food trucks.
Arts in the Alley. Keep the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 7, open for this event, in Person’s Alley, behind Vidler’s. Local artisans and craftsmen sell their wares.
Toytown Car Show.Sunday, August 29, all day, is the “Toytown Car Show.” One of the larger car shows in the area, this showcases vehicles from all decades. Main Street is closed from Olean to Maple to accommodate the show.
Taste of East Aurora. Held Saturday, September 10: this all-day event involves most restaurants in East Aurora.
