December holiday events in East Aurora most often center around Christmas, with both secular and Christian traditions. Last year we added something new, having for the first time a Chanukah celebration with a lighting of a Grand Menorah in front of our store. We thought it was a lovely event, and are honored that Chabad House in Buffalo has asked us again to be the gathering point for the occasion.
The ceremony will take place this Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to this free, ecumenical celebration.
The lighting will be officiated by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gurary of Chabad House in Buffalo. The rabbi will begin with an explanation of the Chanukah miracle and describe the ceremony in detail before offering blessings and lighting the menorah. Music will accompany the ceremony, which will last about half an hour. Following the lighting of the menorah, there will be a period of fellowship where Chanukah treats and hot chocolate will be available.
Hope you can make it, and please call or email me if you have any questions.
